Behavioral Adaptations
Pygmy Marmosets stay in the trees and swing on branches and vines. When communicating with other members of the social group, they make clicking noises and whistles. Two different kinds of calls include J-calls and long calls. J-calls are fast note calls for intermediate distances. Long calls are used for long distances. They also communicate with facial expressions, body posture, and hair erection. When defending their territory, male Pygmy Marmosets raise and flatten their ear tufts, arch their back, grimace, and display their gentiles.
